After auditing the employment tax records of a Fortune 100 client, a leading public accounting firm recommended a strategy and filed with a government agency for a tax refund. Unfortunately, neither the accounting firm nor the client followed up on the claim, leaving thousands of the client’s dollars in the agency’s hands. Two years later, after being engaged for an employment tax review, ETS discovered this unresolved claim, completed the relevant processing, and delivered refunds to the client in excess of $300,000—just before the statute of limitations expired.
